Class Notes & Tips

Now that the metamorphosis is complete, you should see a better class than you previous had in the ‘‘beast’ incarnation. You might find that it will be difficult to turn one of these into a Dragon Master due to the ‘evilness’ of his past forms.  That is not your main problem, though.  The hard part is that you only have a threshold of 20 Alignment points to play with, making this class one of the toughest to promote.  These guys do seem to take damage really easily for some reason, even though their defenses are much higher than a Beast Master.  They are only weak to Fire attacks now.  The rest are fairly decent, but not really high.  Another strange thing is that this class actually gains slightly worse levels than a Beast Master does! Because of this, you are in no real rush to get to this class, as extra levels as a Beast Master can only help and not hurt. Overall though, this class is only so-so.

Placing them in the Back Row is probably “for the best.” Since they will most likely be the Leader of a Dragon or Wyvern unit, the large monsters will soak up damage more efficient this way. As soon as you get one of these, recruit some Wyvern!  They are among the best High Sky characters that you can get!  He can only recruit a normal Dragon, but this is not all bad, because then you can mold him into the type of Dragon you want. Get a few of these as well if you are low on them.  In return, a Dragoner will deal out fairly good damage to both the Dragon and Wyrm classes.  Also, gone is the worry about your beasts fighting less effectively, and any Dragon or Wyrm class will actually fight more effectively when he’s the leader!  You will see them do anywhere from 5 - 10 more damage per attack.  It might not sound like much, bet every little bit helps!  A nice turnaround for this class, but not really earthshaking.  Probably the easiest way to get these is to steal them from enemy units with the “CHARM” (Persuasion Spell) item.  The first place they show up is the Kalbian Peninsula, which should give you more than you’ll need, unless you want to have any special characters as Dragoners...
