Class Notes & Tips

A great early-mid to mid-game character. Danger, Will Robinson! These lose Charisma & Alignment very quickly! This is only because he kills so many guys during this point in the game that it’s not even funny. Then again, maybe in that lovely sadistic way, it is!  The Mage is powerful because, like the Wizard, he will use the elemental attack that will cause the most damage to whatever you set your TACTICS to.  And, he’ll damage everyone else in the unit in the process! Unlike other evil characters that still have a higher class to promote to, you don’t have to worry about keeping a respectable Charisma or Alignment with this class.  That’s because of the requirement of the “STAFF” (Undead Staff).  So, it could almost be a good side-effect, if you’re lucky enough to find some.  Just be careful, because you do need at least a 10 Alignment, so use a bit of discretion!  However, you have greater worries than this, and it’s his defenses. He has some really low ones, especially to White & Physical attacks.  Be weary of Angels and their kind! Other spell casters can be a big problem as well.  As you make your way deep into the Zenobian region, other classes will eventually become much more viable options, such as Devils & Ninja Masters.  You will begin to use them instead, which are much more robust and durable.  Until that time comes, however, have several Mages in your army!

Like the Wizard class, there are useful classes to recruit if you have the Mage the leader of a unit.  In addition to being able to recruit Giants, You can pick from not only Imps, but the beastly Cerberus as well!  Get many, many Imps, and get a Cerberus or two, especially if you don’t have any Hellhounds that you are working up.  It’s a big DUH that these go best in the Back Row of your fighting units. If you like these, or have tons of extra “STAVES” (Undead Staves), you can recruit these bad boys with a Devil or General Tristran.  This class has good choices all around to bolster your stock of, ‘less kind’ character classes...
