Class Notes & Tips

There’s not all that much improvement from the lower form of this class, but it’s all good.  You get three Front Row attacks. And the Sonic Strike attack seems to cause noticeably more damage than the lower form of this class.  There are some concerns, though.  You should have some type of Cleric in your unit if you choose to put a Samurai Master in the Back Row.  Hell, you should have a Cleric in lots of units, but that’s just me! The reason being is that at this point in the game, the enemy will be able to get at him, even when he’s in the Back Row.  And, they seem to get beat on pretty badly, no matter where you position them in your unit. This might be due to less than stellar defenses for such a high level class. This is most noticeable with his Black Defense. Also, if the self damage caused by the Sonic Strike attack would kill your Samurai Master...
I guess you’re really up the creek...
I beg your pardon, what did you just say!?
We offered to help you...  You refused to take our money...  And I said... I guess you’re really up the creek...
Sorry, Blues Brothers flashback! The edited for TV version no less! Anyway, as long as you use healing items at the right times, or have a Cleric of some kind accompanying him, you should be fine.

Samurai Masters are not nearly as versatile as the Paladin class is, but they can still fill out your units, especially your city liberating ones.  The auto healing from the towns will let you use Sonic Strike with no worries.  They also act as great supporting characters  in the Front Row for any Dragoons or Generals that you may have found.  You would get six attacks with just these two characters! Also, Samurai Masters work somewhat as replacements for these special classes in a pinch.  The Sonic Strike in the Back Row can beat ass, but you have make sure that it hits in order for it to deal it’s damage. So, increasing their Intelligence to make it hit more often is not a bad idea, if you have those items to spare.  Of course you do, right?
Ow! You fat penguin!
