Class Notes & Tips

This is an interesting, yet very powerful, character class.  Like the Vampyre & Tiger Man classes, a Werewolf has two radically different forms, depending on whether it is day or night. During the day, he is basically a lowly Fighter, complete with the Fighter’s attack & terrain type of Plains.  However, once the moon goes full, he transforms into a bestial force! Not only does his attack change to ‘something completely different’ & more powerful, but he attacks three times! In the Front Row or the Back Row! Also, his terrain type changes to Mountain.  I personally find it odd that he gains Mountain and not Forest.  Don’t you picture Werewolves running around in forests? Ah well, I guess they left that up to the Tiger Man!  Anyway, pretty slick game designing here. The two terrain types actually compliment each other, because usually by the time you get to a mountain range, it turns night, so the timing works perfectly.  Also, similar to a Vampyre, he has amazing defenses across the board, making him pretty untouchable to most attacks. Well, except against White attacks, which is understandable. Silver bullets, anyone?  The one slightly irritating thing is that he will gain slightly better levels when in his wolf form, so for power gamers, try to avoid having him fight during the day to avoid lesser level gains. But still, that’s hardly a reason to not use these!

There is a problem with this class, and that’s availability. You can them several ways.
1) Have Sirius, the boss of Lake Jannenia, actually kill one of your Fighters, and then defeat him that same fight. It’s very hard to coordinate.
2) Get the item “VIRUS” (Werewolf Virus), and use it on a Fighter.  You can find these from fights, but I hear that you can also get this item from Sirius as well.  It’s really rare.
3) The other way is to have a Vampyre be the Leader of a unit, and recruit some!  However, the Vampyre himself needs an item to class change, so this method isn’t easy either.
4) Find them as neutral encounters. Lake Jannenia has some, as well as a few later stages much later on, such as Antalia.  This is the easiest method, but Antalia is a late game stage.
5) Just use a “CHARM” (Persuasion Spell) on an enemy unit with some in it, and hope for the best!  Once again, Antalia is a good place for this, as well as Antanjyl.
Phew!  Still, all said, these guys are probably the best Mountain character in the game, next to the Salamand; which is so obscenely hard to get, the class almost shouldn’t even be considered!  This is a must-have character class!
