Class Notes & Tips

I don’t think I’m going out on too much of a limb to say that you need these for your Ocean terrain units. If you want to actually get anywhere in the water with some speed, that is!  When fighting in the water, this class seems really hard to hit, especially with direct Physical attacks. It’s gotta be the waves! However, I would highly recommend not placed a Mermaid in the Front Row.  They have dangerously low defenses, especially to Fire & Lightning attacks, and somewhat low Hit Points, too. The Wizard class loves to light up the poor Mermaid.  Since this is the only character class that can be a leader and has a Shallows terrain type, you will want her well protected.  The fact that a Mermaid has only one attack in the Back Row really blows, but she only needs to reach Level 11 for the class promotion.  So, you don’t have to wait too long before she can actually do something. Just keep her alive until then!

Some of you out there may not like this class at all, but I find Mermaids, and especially Nixies, to be pretty good for what they do: be leaders for water units.  Put two Octopus in the Front Row, and then put the Mermaid as the leader all by herself in the Back Row. A simple, yet resilient unit that can repel most early enemy water units.  Once all three of these character classes can be promoted, you will have a very nice unit!  To find these ladies, patrol around over the water with your High Sky units on stages that have more water than the others, like the Kastolatian Sea.  They’re bound to run into some eventually.  The other ammusing thing is that a Mermaid can recruit another Mermaid!  This is the only class that can oddly recruit itself. I don’t recommend too many Mermaids for your army, though.  You just won’t be using that many water units.  One or two Mermaids may be all that you need.
