Class Notes & Tips

I firmly believe that it is every RPG gamer’s dream to have a dragon of some kind on his own side.  And now you get your chance!  This class contains some great variety, but you have to make a choice. This class splits into three main branches of dragons:
Metallic Dragons: Silver Dragon, Gold Dragon, Platinum Dragon
These require high Alignment, and can be considered ‘goodly heroes.’ After all, in pen & paper D&D, the metallic dragons were the ones that would actually be nice to you!  If you want some big allies for your Knight, Cleric, & Valkyrie classes, and want to play in the Snow, these are the guys to use.
Vermilion Dragons: Red Dragon, Red Dragon II, Salamand
These need a moderate, middle of the road Alignment.  They are also the toughest to keep in line for their class promotions because of it.  This branch of dragons will serve you best in Mountain terrain units, along side Werewolves, Dragoners, & Dragon Masters.
Dark Dragons: Black Dragon, Tiamat, Zombie Dragon
To continue with the theme, these need low Alignment.  This class may actually be the most useful for you because you don’t have to wait until the third form to get a 2 hit-all attack from the Back Row.  Also, except for the Zombie Dragon, this class has the Plains terrain type, which is the most common on most stages. These are excellent for your fighting units.
As for the base Dragon himself, he is not as powerful as you would think.  Because of such low Agility gains per level, they are slow, and his Bite attack will miss really often.  Also, because of this, it can be hard to mold him into the Dragon type that you want from the list above. It’s pretty harsh when you find a Level 5 Dragon with 50 Alignment and want a Black Dragon!  Unless you just want a Red Dragon, that is! Still, that fact that you can have a dragon of some kind in your ranks is an ego trip. You will probably not be able to resist the temptation!

The whole point in using the regular green Dragon is to mold him to be the Dragon type that you want.  In order to make sure that you can achieve this, you have to place him in the Back Row. This way, his Fire Breath attack will be able to hit anybody in the entire unit.  After this, it is a simple matter of switching to the WEAK Tactic before you speculate when he is about to go, and have him take out the necessary enemy. Just make sure that he is in accordance with the level gaining restrictions!  It really is a shame, because this guy would be a great damage magnet for your weaker classes.  Don’t worry about it, though, as all of the high class dragons provide this service as well.  Finding these guys can be a bit difficult sometimes.  There are some level 1 Dragons in the mountains right nearby your main base in Sharom Border to the northeast. When in doubt, just recruit Lyon.  he comes ripe and ready with two Level 7 Dragons.  Or, if you can wait this long, have a Dragoner recruit them for you.
