Surprisingly enough, this is the worst member of the Dragon family. You would think that the requirement of a special item would mean that this class is the best Dragon there is. However, that’s not the case. The main problem is that it boils down to trading in two hit-all attacks for two targeted ones. Very questionable, to say the least! Also, this class has the Swamp or Marsh terrain type. One of the only ones in the entire game that does, as a matter of fact. However, this means that whatever unit he is in will move with frighteningly slow speeds. It will take an eternity to get anywhere, even using the roads! There is a little known fact is that the Shallows are also similar to the swampy areas in terms of speed, so he will move somewhat quicker over this terrain type too. However, this is still not that great of a choice, because even combining these two terrain types, they probably take up maybe about 10% of the total area on a given map. Not good. There is one good thing about this class, though. It has very high defenses all across the board, and is actually the fastest type of Dragon. Seeing as both of his attacks are Strength based, he doesn’t need high Intelligence.
So, he gains one point higher Agility & one less Intelligence. Otherwise, level ups are the same. The combo is
one that is great for damage soaking. Just watch out for White attacks is all. They hurt him. Badly. The crux of the matter boils down to this:
The item that you need to make the promotion is an a “UNDEAD” (Undead Ring). Which means that you are possibly passing up on a Lich! Well, gee, let’s see... A Lich or a Zombie Dragon? I
thought so! Even though it didn’t work that good, you have to credit the designers for trying something different here...

I don’t really know what type of unit you can go for if you use one of these. If you want a big immobile unit, then go ahead and knock yourself out.
There are just not enough stages with swamp on them to make this guy worthwhile. Maybe Antalia. The only way I would ever recommend getting one of
these is by stealing it from the enemy by using a “CHARM” (Persuasion Spell). You can buy these once you have access to the Sky Islands. Or, if you have a surplus of “UNDEADS” (Undead Rings) and want to try something different. And when I say surplus, I mean like 5 or 6 of them, and that’s assuming you already have multiple Liches!!
Unless you like these strange units, and want to make the game more challenging for yourself, then use them. They are not as bad as everyone says they are. They just reduce the unit mobility to next to nothing. But if you are serious about your units, then just stick with the Tiamat that you already have. It is worlds better than this slab of rotting, undead meat!
