Class Notes & Tips

This class is not really all that great. I mean, sure, it gives you another option for your Mountain units.  It’s just not a very good one!  First off, I don’t know what they were trying to do with that Back Row attack of his. It’s called Fire Bolt, but it is anything but a projectile attack.  All it does is the exact same thing as the Front Row attack, and change the type of attack it is to Fire.  Asphinctersayswhat?   Anyway, there is really no point in having him back there to begin with, so it’s not that big of a deal. This class is considered to be the ‘evil’ form of the Giant class, so take note of his defenses.  Ouch! He is real weak to White attacks, and destroyed by Cold attacks.  And his other defense aren’t even that high to compensate!  It’s not surprising that they weren’t too effective for me when I’ve tried to use them. All that they ever seemed to do for me was die. Quickly.
By the way, the chart that came with the SNES game got the requirements for this class & the Ice Giant completely flip-flopped.  Of course, I have them the correct way on this site.  What else would you expect?!

The only real place for these in a unit is in the Front Row of a Mountain unit. And nowhere else.  It will be pretty rough going, though.  And slow moving to even get there!  They do really have an inability to absorb damage. Any type of Red Dragon will be much more useful for you. I mean, sure, three Front Row attacks is great, but you cannot even hope to overcome the defensive problems with equipment. His Cold Defense, not to mention his White Defense, is just too low. Only use this class if you want a challenge or something new & different than the standard run of the mill Mountain units.  They can be found as neutral encounters in mountains ranges on most of the middle stages, or simply recruited by Slust.  Otherwise, pack your bags for the Misty Mountains, but leave the Fire Giant behind!
