Class Notes & Tips

They have three Front Row attacks, amazing stat gains per level, and really bring a beating! In the first few stages, you’ll have nothing better! However, they have the Mountain movement type, so their usage is very limited. After time, you will see that they are less and less buff, and start to lose some of their early game luster.  It’s just a matter of getting them to fight in their preferred habitant is all.  This class, seemingly more so than others, really doesn’t fight well out of their stomping grounds.  His weaknesses to White & Lightning will start to be more noticeable as those attacks get more common, and you will start to have problems. However, the good reasons above still make him a very worthwhile character early on, because they are so much better than anything else you will have.  You can even have them fighting in plains and have them work well if the unit is made up right. Just watch out after the first few stages, because the enemy will be onto you...

The Front Row is the place to be for these beasts. In the 2nd & 3rd stages, they are so dominant, that you can use them on any terrain type, and they still will do great. But don’t get too many Hellhounds.  When your units start to specialize, you won’t want too many Mountain units. You will probably not have any better choices for Mountain units early on to begin with, so you may as well use them! Red Dragons can replace some of them after a while. You will want to save one or two so that you can make some into the Cerberus.  They rank right up there in Mountain unit usefulness.  You could just recruit Cerberus straight off with a Beast Master or Mage, if you want. But until then, use a Hellhound or two for some early game thumpin’!
