Class Notes & Tips

Without question, this class is probably the most powerful in the game.  You need two friggin’ special items to get here, so it had better be worth it! Why probably, you say? My personal preference leans towards the Princess as being the best one.  However, without a doubt, this guy is one bad mo fo.  A Lich almost doesn’t need anymore else in a unit; he can pretty much wipe out entire enemy units all by himself!  And as for taking damage? Did you see his defenses?! They are scores higher than any of his previous forms, and they’re pretty wrong all the way around.  The only thing that you would have to watch out for are White attacks or any of the status altering attacks that are out there. These are the only two reasons why you need any other characters in a unit with him really! Just stick some token guys in the front row, and a Lich-led unit can wreck havoc for you on any stage.  There’s so much good about this guy, I may as well stop right here so that you can go & thump some baddies with one!!

A Lich also not only retains the cool little bonus abilities of the Sorcerer, but improves upon them.  This time around, you can recruit Phantoms & Wraiths!  And, that’s right, anywhere on the battlefield too! No towns necessary!  There’s a cool trick that you can do if your current Lich led unit gets touched up by any White attacks, and you’re out of “REVIVES” (Etereal Flutes).  Or, are just feeling impatient.   Simply use the “Erase” command, and recruit a brand new one right on the spot! Make sure that you un-equip the “dead” Undead character before you delete him, or else you will lose the item!  I only suggest this in dire times.
And, to wrap things up, you may have noticed back on the stats page what looked like a bug.  A Lich can class change into a Skeleton?  Bizarre, but true!  Technically, it is a class demotion, as the circle next to him indicates, but why the hell would you want to?!?!  You really are playing with half a deck if you do this.  The only and I mean only reason that I would say to do this would be if you have the PSX version, and want to see a specific special character’s colors as a Skeleton.  It will be super freaky!  Then, after you’ve had a bit of fun, reset and play with this uber-class for real!
Hint:  Warren & Saradin make killer Liches!
