Class Notes & Tips

These little bee-otches are the man!! Just when you think that this entire class tree sucks, the highest form does a complete 180, and it turns out to be one of the best classes in the whole stinkin’ game! Their Magic Missile attack is one of the strongest that you can get in the entire game.  And, because their Agility is so fast, it is a lock that they will attack right after your unit leader does. No other class can gain as much as seven per level!  That’s just sick! Causing much destruction, and probably all but dispatching the entire unit!  Depending on the leader, of course! The stats per level of this class is the highest of any small character in the game. A whooping average of 21 per level!! That’s large monster high! Still, because of some very low defenses, you will have to be a tad bit careful. If anything with ranged attacks does happen to survive the onslaught of a Sylph, she will take a ton of damage in return. Especially from Lightning attacks.  She has the lowest defenses of any highest tier class by far. Don’t worry about it, though, and just use a healing item or two after she mops the floor with the enemy unit!  This class is truly a “Diamond in the Rough.”

Because she is so deadly now, unit placement with this character is not that big of a deal anymore. They can work great in your fighting units, for that Magic Missile attack right off the bat will get rid of any and all Undead you will face, paving the way for your Lich, Devil, or other power class to finish off the remnants.  At that point, you could drop a Golem or Pumpkin in there and it wouldn’t matter! I tend to put a Sylph in a unit with a Princess, and then don’t worry about facing the same enemy unit twice.  I don’t know of many units that can take two Magic Missile attacks & two Starlight attacks except for some of the final boss fights. And even then, maybe only the final two or three boss fights! Anyway, the things that limit a Sylph’s usefulness are her inability to be a leader, her relatively low Hit Points, and terrible defenses. The first isn’t all that important because of her low Hit Points.  You wouldn’t want a leader that is easily killed anyway! As for the defenses, just equip her with a really powerful item, like the Elder Sign, Mystic Veil, or Ring of Protection.  These give bonuses to multiple elements, and reduced the damage she takes nicely.
