Two out of the three finds on this level are great! The Phantom is prime for Charisma / Alignment raising of your troops. They are not as common an encounter as on other stages, but it’s better than the stages where they don’t show up at all! The other excellent creature is the Salamand (Fire Breath for you PSX owners out there.). This is the hardest class
in the entire game to achieve, so your only hope of ever getting one in your army would probably be by finding one as a neutral encounter. That, or use a charm on a unit later on! At any rate, these big
beasties rule the mountains, and you’d be a fool not to include one in a Mountain unit of yours! Kraken you should have your fill of by now.

This number of different & total units should be commonplace to you by now. This crop of enemy units are not especially challenging, as they are designed to take advantage of the
large mountain range in the middle of the map. Oh there are flyers too, but there are a fair share of Mountain terrain units. Use classes that have strong Fire defenses, and can also dish out some Cold and/or White attacks or weapons. Many of these units are evil as well as build for mountain travel, therefore susceptible to these attacks. The terrain might make garrisoning towns difficult, so don’t let the enemy’s specialization hurt you!

Prologue: Fort Shulamana is one of the few remaining islands that is still controlled by the Empire. Fort Shulamana is also the last major stronghold standing between the rebels and the Empire’s capital, so the enemy will defend it fiercely. Rumor has it that Tristran’s mother, Queen Floran, is held captive somewhere near here.
There’s probably no truth to this, as she was believed to have been killed in the last war along with King Gran. However, it's worth checking out the tale.
But you’ll have to get past General Previa first, who is one of the 4 Devas!
|
This smallish stage with many mountains has a very important item waiting for you once you defeat Previa. But you must not only have Tristran in your party, but also an extremely high Reputation.
What is this item, you ask? Only the “ARMBAND” (Mystic Armband), which you need in order to get the “World” ending!
|
Deployment Time! Get Canopus on his horse (or his Gryphon...) and send him to the extreme northwest corner of the map. The towns of Orappa & Ok’ Hhanja are waiting for him. As long as you don’t send tons of units or your Opinion Leader over here, these towns will be virtually untouched by the enemy units. The main objective on this stage, however, is the shop town of Ochiwalong in the middle of the map. Practically all enemy units come through this passageway, so holding this town is key to winning. Your secondary way to
the boss is to drop straight south of your main base, all the way to Preton. then head straight west, grabbing the towns of Halobon, and eventually Mafe Kin. This stage is probably as good as any to deploy a Mountain terrain unit or two to speed around the middle of the map. You may not have many of them assembled anymore, but throw one together with Werewolves & Red Dragon II’s in it. Besides, a little variety in the units that you use couldn’t hurt!
|
Step 1: Once you finally get all the way over to the town of Orappa, the grateful townsfolk will give you an item. Which item depends on how high your Reputation is. It is simple. If it’s high, you’ll get a “GODDESS” (Ivory Goddess), from a Roshian Monk. If not, then you’ll get the “SABLEFUR” (Sable Fur), by a band of thieves. It doesn’t really matter which item that you receive, because neither is important to the plot. Sell either for a boost to your war chest.
|
|
Step 2: As you boldly trailblaze across the mountain range, there are two Roshian Temples that you should liberate. The hidden temple, R.T. #2, will present to you a weapon to aid your
quest. And it’s a good one, too! The “FAFHNIEL” (Fafhniel) is one of the best weapons in the whole game! Be sure to equip it on a strong Front Row character to make them even better! At this point, you should have the region around Ochiwalong nearly under your control. And once you do, take a trip to the temple right nearby by; R.T. #3. This house
of worship will also give you a weapon, and it too is strong. You’ll receive a “NOTOS” (Notos), which is one of the 4 ‘legendary treasures’ to boot!
Now, if only you had the other three... You may as well equip it on someone, because it is a super strong Lightning based weapon.
|
|
Step 3: As you make your journey along the southern swing, the towns here will
provide you with a bevy of helpful information. The town of Halobon tells you the truth about Queen Floran. It has been common knowledge that Queen Floran was killed 25 years ago, but she was actually taken prisoner because of her knowledge of the 3 Mystic Treasures. They
also say to find out more about these treasures, go west to the town of Mafe Kin. When you do liberate this town, the populace here tells you that any
aspiring ruler would want the 3 Mystic Treasures within their possession. They divulge that the 3 treasures are the “GRAIL” (Grail), the Holy Sword “BRUNHILD” (Brunhild), and the “ARMBAND” (Mystic Armband). And, for a final piece of information, they also say that the late King Gran had both the “GRAIL” (Grail) and the “ARMBAND” (Mystic Armband) in his possession at one time, and Queen Floran herself has kept the “ARMBAND” (Mystic Armband) hidden from the Empire. So, the plot thickens... By the way, you have had the third Mystic Treasure, the Mystic Treasures, for quite some time now. Er, you should!
|
Step 4: As you defeat the remaining enemies, don’t forget to liberate the fringe
cities or cities you passed by, such as Selloway. The interesting thing is that you do not need to use any specific character for this boss battle.
Nope. Neither Tristran or Debonair! However, you have to at least have Tristran in your party in order to get an all important dialogue with him once the boss battle is over. This boss battle won’t be easy, so get one of your best units set, and...

Previa is the third of the four Devas. This will be a really tough boss fight because his escorts are actually tough
as well. You know how bad Devils can be, and there are two of them!! Well, half of them anyway! The Raven Men are a wash and easy to take out. This fight, more than any other, is begging you to use a “World” Tarot Card. Don’t even bother with either the “Chariot” or “Tower” cards. Your best bet as far as damage Tarots go is the “Hermit” card. Previa is super weak to Lightning attacks. This fight can be a great place to try your new Notos weapon as well! If you want to drop the Raven Men super fast (faster than just attacking them, that is!) use a “Justice” card. Then there is always the fail safe “Judgment” card. Or, just a plain old “Fool” card! Just try and concentrate on the leader, even though it might be tempting to drop one of the Devils. Leave those to your Hit-All attacks from the unit.
|
As soon as you have defeated Previa, a dialogue box will appear between your Opinion Leader and Tristran, but only if you have a near full Reputation Meter. Sadly, it seems that you have arrived too
late to save Queen Floran, and have discovered that Previa had already killed her before you had arrived. Tristran does not know how to deal with his rage, other than to remain even more focused in destroying the Empire! To prove it, he will bestow upon you his mother’s family heirloom, the “ARMBAND” (Mystic Armband).
This is one of the 3 Mystic Treasures that you need for the “World” ending! You’ve got two of them, and only one remains!

There is not a whole lot of things to do here. Just a low level class promotion item, and some game info that you should have already known by this point.
|
1) Upon visiting the town of Ochiwalong, which is the shop
town also, you will meet a Roshian Monk, who tells you how great Tiger Men are, which is open for debate, and that you can find one with the “FULLMOON” (Full Moon Stone) that
she just so happens to have. However, she will only give it to you for the “FOLIO” (Tome of Myths) in return, which can be found on both the City of Xanadu & Zeteginea after beating them. So, the choice is yours. Either sell the “FOLIO” (Tome of Myths) for gobs of Goth, or crowd your stockpile of characters with another loser Tiger Man. Your decision should not be too difficult!
|
|
2) For some late but still useful information, go to the town of Preton.
Here, the liberated townsfolk will tell you the secret way to determine which type of elemental attack is used during battle. When an attack successfully hits someone, it will flash that character a specific
color, which is they element of the attack. This would have been real helpful information on like, the 2nd or 3rd stage, but now it’s just a novelty item. Here is the list, just for completness’s sake.
